Teri Leman, is a 30-year Broadway, Classical, and Popular vocal artist development professional, clinician, and competition adjudicator whose success is measured by the number and caliber of students she has trained, mentored, and helped launch professional careers as artists and educators in the performing arts. Her students have secured television appearances on American Idol, broadcasting stations, and have landed roles in prestigious theaters such as the Paramount, Marriott Lincolnshire, Theo Ubique Theatre, etc. Leman’s students have been nominees and winners of the Jeff and Jimmy Awards, as well as finalist in the Hollywood round of American Idol. Her students are typically awarded the leads in Chicago area high school musicals. The IHSMTA competition winners quickly find the dream of a career on Broadway attainable. One of her recent protégé's, Sydney Olson, was awarded the IHSMTA 2021 Broadway in Chicago Top Female Actress Winner for the state of IL. An experienced singer, performer, and instructor, Leman studied with internationally acclaimed Thomas D. Fitzpatrick, who made his debut with the Rome Opera Company as lead tenor in Madama Butterfly while studying in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar. “Fitz” instilled in her the vocal pedagogy that not only made Leman a highly sought after vocal coach and adjudicator in the Chicago metro- plex, but also infused in her a passion for exuding an inner joy that bubbles up out of her students through storytelling while performing. During the years she directed musicals for Spotlight Theatre in the Chicagoland area, Leman was nominated as National Youth Theatre Best Director, with Best Lead Actress/Best Actor for Les Miserables, as well as nominations for Best Actress/Best Actor/Best Supporting Actress/Best Ensemble in West Side Story.
Leman is also a life coach, having led praise worship teams many years in her professional career, Teri nourishes intrinsic values in artists to establish high self-esteem, a value system of humility and respect for fellow artists, and a discipline of hard work that turns strengths to talent! Her solo and ensemble competition students throughout the years have received top medal awards, and during 2020, 100% of Leman’s students who auditioned for ILMEA were awarded the District Level Achievement, with many receiving highest honors at the State Level. Leman's students have been nominated and competed in vocal solo/ensemble competitions throughout the years at the State level with first rate success. With over 1,000 students to her legacy, Leman is able to quickly distinguish talent and create an effective development strategy to launch a branded long-term career artist.
